While you have the lower rear seat out, it would also be worth removing the seat back and cleaning all four connectors at the ASM. Don
Don, Is the stud you refer to under this rubber plug, please?

Hi Ray,

No, I think that is just a plug/grommet where the harness passes through. I can't remember exactly where I found that ground stud but I had basically everything apart, including the front right seat out (I'm pretty sure there was a ground stud under the seat). It seems like there was a stud somewhere around the right corner of the rear seat, possibly under the carpet or under the rubber insulation beneath the seat cushion. Sorry I can't remember specifically - I just cleaned everthing I found on that half of the car.

Don

Thanks Don,

I think I can eliminate the ASM Ground as the cause of my CATS System Fault without finding the stud by checking the wire at the pin shown below for continuity?

Yes, good thinking. But test it not only for continuity but for low resistance to ground, ideally zero ohms or something very close.

Don, I have copied this post to my Air Spring Supply Circuit Fault post https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-220808/page2/ so that anyone following either post in the future will have continuity of info?
Regards,
Ray

Default [SOLVED] Random Suspension Height

Suspension was randomly going full height then down all the way. Sometimes would stop somewhere in between. Tried all kinds of ideas based upon threads in this group.

Well, to keep the story short, I finally tossed in the checkbook and took it to the dealer. Turns out I had an internal short in the trunk fuse box. They replaced it and the suspension is now working as expected! Yea!
Another bonus: the airbag light randomly and regularly was popping code 22; the switch under the driver's seat. Well that has disappeared with the new fuse box. YEA!

My baby is back on the road and I'm lovin it!

Well I am going to follow this thread with interest and see what happens. My 2008 XJ silver kitty must know I am trying sell her and she is fighting back. A normally trouble free Jag and after months of pleasurable driving, I suddenly got an ABS fault and of course the associated DSC and Cruise not available message. My reader is just a basic OBDII so I had to call the local Jag specialist to figure out what corner is the culprit. They wouldn't just plug it in while I waited so I was trying to arrange to drop it off. ( I guess they are not used to people that know how to work on their own cars) Last night I got on a local highway for the first time in months (she normally prowls the local roads) and as I got up to speed all of a sudden, like MRLOVT I now have "Air Suspension Fault" message. I get out of the car and she is at full height at all four corners. So I guess the good news is that all of the shocks are holding air but I am now not happy with silver kitty at the moment and will follow this post with interest. I will share if I get any resolution that may help.

So I looked in the factory manual during break and the suspension diagnostic chart lists the following: Symptom- Vehicle too high and doesn't lower with a permanent "Suspension Fault" message. Possible Cause- Vehicle has gone into Transport Mode. Possible Solution- Check for DTC2780. Will need Jaguar software to re-calibrate.

Okay this sounds and looks like what has happened to my XJ but the question is how does it suddenly decide to go into Transport Mode all on its own?

That's a really good question! It doesn't.The rear fuse boxes wreak havoc on these cars.

Mark in Maine, yes I had read this by I think dsmart5 earlier in the thread. I had swapped a rim with the spare recently so I thought maybe something got disturbed when they were in the trunk. Pulled the spare tire and the reservoir cover as well as looked at the fuse box with the cover off last night. Every thing looks pristine. There is no evidence of water issues etc in the trunk and fuse box looks like new down to the circuit board. Ive only owned this Jag since last Oct. I drive it daily and it has been wonderful. I am going to have to find out the proper software/tool to buy because it drives me nuts having to rely on a shop. Hopefully I'll get it sorted out and report my solution as I am selling silver kitty to make room for a low mileage 05 XJR I picked up that is sitting on the sidelines waiting to get registered. Unfortunately the 05 needs new shocks upfront and the money I had saved for those parts are now being spent on silver kitty. (Cats are like that !)
