Default Tibbe Keys with Security Chips

has anyone ever had their car not recognize the chip in a key? Does it ever become un programmed thru normal use?? I always carry a spare working and programmed flip key in the trunk, but if the chips never loose the connectivity, I would rather store the flip key at home instead... Brandon

Seems to reasonable to think the answer is that no-one has had it happen.

Sorry, I've not heard it happening under normal circumstances. Maybe if near a supermagnet or particle collider?
