Default Transmission codes, P1605 ?

P0706 and P0736 are what I pulled with my code reader. Are these beyond a re flash ? If so anyone have any thoughts. I know we have many tech type guys here so any input would be appreciated.

Hi John,

You can download the Diagnostic Trouble Code Summaries at the link below and look up the Jaguar definitions and possible causes of your DTCs:

X350 DTC Summaries

However, there are almost always more possible causes than listed in the manual. A known issue on X350s is that the two screws that secure the gear selector cable bracket to the left side of the gearbox loosen and even fall out. When this happens, the gearbox can be in a gear other than the one selected at the J-gate, leading to various malfunctions. So just to rule this out, check those screws and if they are loose, remove one at a time, add a little threadlocker (Blue Loctite, etc.) to the threads, reinstall and snug it up tight, but don't overdo it and strip the threads. The reason I suggest removing only one screw at a time is that there is very little clearance between the side of the transmission and the transmission tunnel sheetmetal, and if you remove both screws it is a very fiddly job to hold the bracket in place with one hand and get the first screw inserted and started in the threads. Leaving one screw installed to keep the bracket in position makes it easier.

Please keep us informed.

Cheers,

Don
