Smile Trunk Lid not poping up

( Just an FYI ) I have had my car sense Feb and the trunk would not pop up unless you were standing right there pulling up with slight pressure when release button was pushed. I discovered yesterday the square part covering the latch in the trunk unsnapped and I found that the spring loaded (push up pin) had very limited up and down movement. I rotated plastic pin and found it has a locking slot, when I aligned with slot pin extended out almost a full inch. Now when I open trunk it works as it should :

Getting to know ones vehicles on an up close & personal level, is necessary to avoid the unneeded expense of a visit to a mechanic.

Does the trunk ( boot over here) make the motor noise when you close it or do you have to slam it shut? If you have to slam it then the lock asm probably needs replacing. I managed to bust mine by over filling the boot and the motor in the latch made a really nasty noise and that was that done for. Good job there is ebay lol.

My fuel flap is a bit flakey and I have to wedge a credit card in it then press the button and it will open. If I dont I can see the flap move but it wont open fully, I think it needs a good clean.

What I learned was that driver door has to be open and engine off before the gas door switch will work.
