Unhappy Cruise not available/ ABS? 2004 XJR

On my 2004 XJR, Any thoughts on why I am getting this error message Cruise not Available? I have looked at the assembly behind the bumper. It appears to be corrosion free. The connector is clean and connects crisply. I have no ABS errors. This error occurred after a long trip and light overnight rain, while not driving the car.

I was considering removing and reconnecting the ABS connector but not sure the best was to remove it.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Do you have adaptive cruise control?

What about your battery? I got this on both my S-Type and XJ8L when the battery was on its last legs. When it's cold I got this frequently because of the voltage spikes upon first starting. It went away once I repeated starting the car.

I second on checking the battery. I also got that message before replacing the battery.....which solved the issue.

Battery going out is a common cause, as others have said.
A voltage drop test, will tell you your battery's condition.

Battery looks good.

Curious about two brake switches. One tested as normally open which controls the brake light. The other tests as normally closed and opens when the pedal is pressed. Not sure I understand the need to have the sport mode pressed???

XJRs all have adaptive cruise control

thanks all for your inputs
