Unhappy Trunk Lock (Boot) only will open with Key

So..........
Went to the grocery store and when I got ready to open trunk just a click then nothing else
I tried button on dash as well as key fob and nothing.
When I used the actual key it opened. So I played with latch on trunk lid and when I had it in the position where it would be closed I hit the key and I could hear it lock. but when I click it to unlock the latch it does nothing.
What should I do?

Two possibilities:

A break in a wire in the area of the corrugated rubber cover so check for

a 12v supply and earth(ground) at the latch or the latch has failed and the easiest is to replace the latch.

Hey Todd. You may have your car stuck in valet mode.

Your may also be locked out of your glovebox.

Try putting your key in the drivers door to lock and unlock. Do both. That will release the car from valet mode.

Have a look at these threads - there is a known problem with the lock actuator

If this is indeed the problem you have you can search ebay for replacements or new from a dealer

Same thing happened to me years ago. I had to replace the trunk actuator.

The design of the actuator means that it is easy to damage it then it will not work

and I find it impossible to reassemble the bits even though i don't think any part

is broken.
