I have been told that my 2004 XJR will need a new trunk release actuator.
The trunk release will not work, either the key or the interior button.
The trunk will open with the manual key but will not electronically close.
Any know where I can buy and or is this something I can do myself?
Should I just have the dealership take care of same for about $300.

Thank you
Steve

I think what you are looking for is the Lid Latch, part# C2C001740.

MSRP = $157.00
Parts.com = $117.36

Don't think it is very difficult to replace.

trunklid
how can I test the latch motor?
I have the trunk latch exposed, but i would like to find out how to energize the latch to find out : is it the motor not running? or is it the lack of signal to the motor.

I have checked the harness for continuity and found all wires solid.

I have found which pins seem to actuate the motor, but how to I enegize them.
Put a 12 v line to the pin? ground to ?? how about testing resistance? which pins and where to probe?
