Default Uneven braking and floaty feeling at speeds

Hello Everyone,

I'm facing few issues with my XJL8 2008, and my local dealer is not really that reliable in fixing problems. The issues I'm facing are:

1- Uneven braking, I'm not sure what is that called, it is kind of an erratic braking that sometimes happen and sometimes brakes perfectly. I can feel the car shaking especially when the speed gets lower than 60 kph. Even though, all my brake pads and discs were recently replaced.

2- Floaty feeling: especially at high speeds, when I run over a bumpy road or so. I just don't feel that the car is in solid contact with the road. What makes me hate the ride, the fact that most roads in country are poor.

3- I noticed that my jaguar suspension is so soft and dampy, is there any possible way to make the suspension mode stiffer a bit?

I would appreciate any of your opinions.

Thanks a lot,

If the rotors were changed, it is possible that the tech did not degrease and prep the rotors by wiping them with laquer thinner or acetone to remove the preservative oil and then lightly sand the rotors with 220 sandpaper to roughen them. If this is not done, the pads will glide over the surfaces unevenly grabbing due to the slick surfaces left there.

It's a good practice to check new rotors for "run out" after installation. Improperly stored or manufactured rotors can be warped out of the box. I hear it's not uncommon although I've never experienced it.

At what speed do you experience this float? This is a trait of 04 and up XJs and one I had with my 05 XJR at 100 plus mph.

I agree with Tarheal they might be warped. and the floaty-ness is more apparent on these cars then say a 7 Series but not as much of a floater as an LS. XJ reminds me of a baby version of my R-R I had which to say I like

This can be the result of the brakes not being seated properly after rebuilding. Resin from the pads can be deposited on the disk causing the shoes to feel like they are skipping.

I don't seem to suffer with that on my XJ8L VDP. It sits the road really well at all speeds. So cannot help you with this.
