XJR...The speed limiter...It is 155 correct? Has anyone used fifth and actually gone past 160 or more? I hit it the limiter the other day in drive during a chase not thinking of this...If so how fast have you gone? Can you get 180 out of the "R"

I can tell you that on the German autobahn I cranked my XJR up to an indicated 170mph a couple of times before I had to jump on the brakes because of traffic. In Sport Mode with the shifter in 5th, it shifted from 4th into 5th at an indicated 155mph and took a while to creep up to "170" in 5th.
Prior to this I had hit the 155mph speed limiter at an indicated 160mph, but that was with the shifter in D and Sport Mode off... again in Germany, on the Autobahn.
You can definitely go through the limiter in 5th.
I doubt you could get 180mph out of a stock or close to it XJR.
The handling was quite good at these speeds, did not feel floaty at all.

It does, even leaving it in D with sport mode on it goes up to 170ish without too much effort. Mine shifts into 5th at 150 which shows how long the gearing is on our cars. It still pulls very well off that shift into 5th too showing there's plenty of power left. Does anyone know the top speed and Max rpm in 5th?

No, I do not drive around at 170 mph. But it should pull to at least 6000 rpm. What was it turning at 150 mph in 5th?
I have an A8 also. Someone took his to the salt flats and ran it to 178 in 5th gear. The car had 200,000 miles on it. Original fluid in the tranny and all three differentials.
A XJR has 65 more horsepower. It should go a little faster.
