Default "Vehicle Too Low" urgent advice required!!!

Hi guys

As I was getting this message few times I sent the car to agents to see what the real issue is. Sent it yesterday morning and they have still unable to diagnosis the fault. When I asked they said "car has connected to the diagnosis machine on height measurement detection. Once the signal appears complete only we can detect"
Is it true? Does a computer takes more than a day to detect a fault? I thought once you connect you get codes.
Please let me know what you know about this

Thanks in advance
Sonic

Sonic,
I am not sure if I understand you correctly, but let me try. I believe you are asking if the only way to tell what the issue is would be to let the computer detect it while it happens. Am I understanding that right?
If so, then no. The computer is not going to tell the technician exactly where the problem (likely leak in the air suspension system) is. Further, consider the conditions when you get the warning. It is cold out? Many Jag suspension issues are temperature related. Taking the car into their heated shop "fixes" the issue enough that they won't see anything wrong.
Could also be the compressor going bad, which is a simple rebuild. I would stay away from the dealer and find an independent shop that can tackle the issues for a lot less $$$.
Good luck.

Sonic,
I agree with drb007. My experience is that during the previous couple of winters, I was also getting "vehicle too low". For a couple of years this alarm went away just by driving the car 100yds and letting the compressor pump the system back up. You should be able to tell if the car is actually too low when this alarm occurs, just by looking at it, particulalry the height of the tire compared to the wheel arch. In my case, last summer, the front drivers side air strut sprang a large leak. The leak sounded just like air being let out of a balloon when the neck is partly restricted. The car wouldn't rise when started and looked low at the front. I cured this by installing an Arnott replacement. At the same time, I contacted Andy Fulton in Scotland (bagpipingandy.com) and got a replacement piston ring set for the compressor. This winter, which has been very cold for a prolonged period, no issues.

Hope this helps!
Paul.

I would caution NOT to drive the career if the Vehicle Too Low warning comes on. It can be hard to tell if it is critically low, often not known until you turn the wheels a bit. That's an expensive lesson...
Driving it will not make it pump up any more than sitting parked will.

When my XJR did this my critical temperature was 38 degrees. As soon as it got colder than that the front of the car would drop. I replaced both fronts with Arnotts. Easy job.
This winter has been unbelievably cold. Most days for the last 3 weeks it has been below zero. Some days it has been 20 below. Not one problem with my suspension!

I think it is quite warm in Sri Lanka (once known as Ceylon) at the moment !

I suspect the air compressor is worn out, but until the fault codes are known, one cannot say for sure. Of course an air spring could be leaking too.

Sonic, did you ever get "air suspension fault" before this "vehicle too low" message ?
