Default A very sad day...

Why that deer jumped in front of my XJR as I was zipping down the freeway, I'll never know.

Needless to say; after the airbags deploying, the bonnet covering the windscreen, and the radiator shearing off the supercharger, it doesn't look good.

I suppose I should just be happy it wasn't a moose.

Maybe there's a bigger risk factor. Since if I were a deer and wanted to commit suicide, I'd wait for a Jag. Apologies for the black humor. Can you tell us what exactly happened? We've all heard of animals going through the windscreen, so what has caused the bonnet on it instead?

Yes, clearly I was well protected. I suppose the high centre of mass of the deer caused the bonnet to flip right over. Thankfully the deer bounced off the underside of the bonnet as it was covering the windscreen. The leaper is missing... Pulled straight out from its mount. No cracks in the windscreen either. This all happened at midnight, on Friday.

The gas charged struts were pulled from their mountings but the main hinges remained intact.

After puling over and gaining my breath, I was disappointed that no one pulled over to see if I was alright.

Sadly, searching for a replacement today has proved futile. So if anyone hears of one becoming available, would you please let me know. I'm looking for:
2004 - 2010 XJR (preferred) or Super V8. (Yes, I prefer the classic lines and the solid feel)
British Racing or Jaguar Racing Green, preferred.
(No black cars, please)
Adaptive Cruise Control
Bluetooth Phone Module
Brembos
DVD
Headlight Washing system
HID
Jaguar Voice
Navigation
Preferred Audio... in two words: 'Really Loaded'

Guy,
Thanks for the post.
Glad you weren't hurt.
Try Autotrader. That's where I found mine.
You probably already know that.
Good luck.

Ouch, sorry to hear of this incident. Is your XJR a total loss?

wow, you hear stories like this a couple times a year on this forum, but I never get used to it. I can't even imagine the feeling/feelings afterward.

Be patient, you'll find a good BRG one. Bluetooth and Voice can be added DIY with instructions on the forums as you don't see many out there with these fitted. So, find your superv8, or XJR with the other criteria on your list (rear multimedia should be your hardest option to find), then add the BT and Voice yourself. We'll help ya!

In fact, after decades of driving, the only time a deer has jumped in front of any car has been the Jaguar. Three times in one trip.

Maybe it's a sound that they make. supercharger whine?

Default Deer damage

Sorry to hear of the major damage to your car.

I'm now in your club. Last month a deer ran into the side of my 2007 XJ8L. Driving at night on a park road in Oklahoma. I was going about 20 mph, the deer hit the side of my car going about 50! It hit between the passenger front fender and door, then hit the rear door and small rear fender ding. Scared my grand kids, for sure. It did $1500 worth of damage which is now being repaired. Hope to have my car back next week.

Hopefully the repair will not be noticeable. It will show up on carfax, but I don't care, it will be pretty old when I'm done with it.
