vibration
I have had my 07 XJ8 for 4 months and 5000 miles with 57,000 miles on it now and love it but notice a light vibration at 55 mph and over. I can really only notice it on very smooth newly paved roads which I have a few around me. I feel it in the seat and not the steering wheel. With how beautiful this car rides even on moderitly rough roads I would think it would be silk smooth on newly paved roads. The Jag dealer I bought it from tells me the car is perfect. If this is just the way it rides and is normal I can certanly live with it, just would like to know. I plan on keeping this car and want to keep it in the best of shape at all times.
Is the vibration very low frequency and pulsating? Does it do it even if you put the trans in neutral while moving at 50-55mph? I had a problem like that. Started doing it at about 48K miles. Dealer flashed the transware and that took away about 80% of it. It is still there and "I" notice it because I know my car very well. Problem is nobody else does.
Get the tires balanced on a Hunter Road Force balance machine and get them to check for bent rims.
You can find one near you here: Hunter GSP9700 Wheel vibration Control System solves wheel vibration and tire pull problems that balancers and aligners can't fix
It sure smoothed out my XJR. Cost $25 each for a lifetime balance at my local Goodyear store. Well worth the cost.
