Default Voice Activation Pre-Wire

I was going through my Vehicle Details and it states Voice Activaion Pre-Wire. My car dosent have voice on it (or atleast I couldnt figure it out). What does this mean? Can I get the voice option installed? If so what does it take?

If you have a phone - it takes a voice control module (installed in the trunk) and a new D2B cable harness.
If you don't have a phone, you will also need a mic installed in the overhead console.

The voice module is quite rare in US, but there is a bunch of them in UK ebay

Thanks for the info. I dont have a factory phone installed but my bluetooth works and there is a mic installed next to my visor. Is this "voice module" you speak of the same for all models?

How easy was it to get the D2B cable and can you remember what it cost?

Does the car need to be reconfigured to recognise the new feature?

I assume you lose the use of the mute function on the left hand steering wheel button?

The dealer will give you a whole new D2B harness for about $120-$170. If you score a spare D2B connector from eBay, you can add it to the loop yourself - they are easy to assemble/disassemble.

In theory you need to go to the dealer to reconfigure the car, mine worked fine after I added PSE and voice so I did not.

The "mute" function becomes the "listen" function on the voice system. I don't know what it does if you press it while talking on the phone.

Btw. on my car there was a spare D2B connector in the trunk which has a "loop" passtrough thing attached - I think it's close to the amp. You can use that connector too.

I'm not real sure I have seen that cable but I will dig into it deeper. I guess I will call my service manager and see what that will cost. Thanks

Sorry to hijack your thread, but if anyone could help me with a D2B aux-in, I would very much appreciate it: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=50299

Here is what you need to install voice activation in your XJ. The part numbers listed supersede to new numbers, but they will get you where need to go. It really isn't too big a job. Your 2008 probably already has a mic for the bluetooth, so that part is already done!

Cheers,

If you have navigation you can turn on those options without going to the dealer.

hold the phone/menu buttons in, type in 1971, select options I think and you can turn on/off options after you install the hardware.
