2 Front suspension bushes at 90,000km (56k miles), due to failing a warrant of fitness (MOT).
Unbelievable! (on km) They look fine, but wracking with a screwdriver reveals the rubber is broken.

so I've been chasing a intermittent no start problem for a while . car isn't quite road ready yet so i wasn't that concerned about it . it would start after a day or 2 of sitting and run fine .i finally had the issue yesterday and the time to chase the problem down . over the past couple of months i noticed i wouldn't get any fuel pump noise on key on when it wouldn't start . i tested for voltage and ground at pump and had both . voltage is constant at pump and ground is controlled by rear module I removed the fuel pump and tried applying voltage and ground directly to the pump and no pump . reversed polarity and got a moan from pump . reversed polarity again and pump was up and running. new fuel module is on its way ......

just removed rear bumper to replace a bad sensor. Purchased the sensor from ebay. Fairly easy job using a thread from this forum.

Also, fixed CD changer by removing and opening the changer. Removed the disc holder and sprayed white lithium grease over the mechanical parts and left it over night to sink into everything. After a few weeks of using, the changer is working great.

HI I recently exchanged the cooling fluid and the differential oil. Fuel filter was planned as well but the connection is so thight did not want to break it. I am looking for some options. Guess heat is not such a good idea.
The jaguar dealer still sells the original new 2W93 alpine speakers but he made me take a deep breath when he told me 130€ for each. So I bought and installed 2 Kenwood 330w 17mm in the back without messing up the original space so i could still put originals back in. Still looks original and sound is great.

Do you mean the magazine or the metal parts inside?

Default Error codes today

My check engine light came on today. Plugged in an OBD2 scanner and it came back with both the P0101 and P0171 error codes. Hunting around this forum and the internet seems to indicate this combination is most likely the MAF sensor. Can anyone point me to instructions on how to clean and/or replace it on a 2007 XJ8? Any suggestions if you think something else may be causing causing this pair of errors? I am new to attempting this myself.

On top of air hose after filter box, fastened on with two small screws.
Squeeze the tab, gently wiggle, & unplug connection first, then the screws.
Spray the wires inside from both sides, do a good job, & let dry before reassembly.

if your asking about the CD changer, i removed the magazine and sprayed the area where all the movement happens. I think there were stuck pieces from age and lack of movement over the years.

Thank you. The error is intermittent - so I'll let you know how it goes. I've ordered the CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner.

Default Wiper Blade Refill Replacement

Replaced the blades on the X358. Very simple, all you need is a towel wedged between the wiper arms and the edge of the bonnet, needle nose pliers to squeeze the locking ends and release old blades.

Part numbers were
Passenger: 19” Trico/Napa 60-1900
Driver: 24” Trico 45-245

All under $20 and took me less than 19 minutes!

Default Cooling system fault resolved.

I tried to fix the crack in the side of my coolant reservoir with a soldering iron and some epoxy filler, but the pressure tester proved it to be folly. I returned the pressure tester to Autozone with my thanks, and ordered a Dohrman version of the replacement. They had a URO version listed with a list price of $78 and a 90 day guarantee, vs. Dohrman's $128 and lifetime guarantee. Since this cracked example is my second replacement, I went with the better guarantee. I noticed on opening that the new tank has a metal sleeve reinforcement to both hose connections that the old one lacks.
Installation was straightforward, as expected, and a few heat cycles got the coolant level back to stable level, and NO dripping anywhere. Finally!

Nice, thanks for sharing. URO products are the worst.

I opted for a URO branded ball joint on my now previous 2000 S Type and the **** sheared in half almost killing me at Newark Airport.

No more URO branded crap for my vehicles.

Default A few small things over the weekend

Fitted a Type S solar powered wireless backup camera (see separate thread), replaced the wiper blades and cleaned the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor - the check engine light in no longer illuminated. All easy stuff ... I am just a beginner at working on a car.

Default Potholes.

Changed to my Summer wheels (although temperatures here are still very low) as an unavoidable hole in the road smashed my o/s/f Winter tyre; that's three in two years. I don't mind forking out for tyres because I have ripped them to shreds having fun, but feel quite differently when I have to buy them because the gangsters in power take my taxes and fail to provide proper services in return.
Washed it.
Other than that, it passed 150,000 miles a while ago, and just keeps howling along; the best car that I have ever owned, if not the most sensible.

I just did an 83mm maf housing. Needs to be scaled in the ecu as I’m sure the TB does too.

where can I get one?

Which MAF did you go with? I went with the Pro M Racing 92mm MAF, the company already knew how to set up the tables/calibration thanks to Avos having given them the parameters in the past. The MAF has no issues reading and properly functioning with the OEM ECU as a result. I do have a tune, but it was flashed on way before I did the MAF. The only "tricky" part was wiring it in since the harness is not the same as stock.

As far as the TB, it was difficult to get it dialed in, but I had to play with the adjustment on the TB valve and the TPS angle. After a lot of trial and error it finally got to a point where the car wasn't rejecting it and ran very well. It will throw a code on occasion but I clear it and it runs fine afterwards for along time.

Cleared the trunk for vacuum and clean . All the carpet out to put everyting properly back in place cause it wasn't before . Had a good look for humidety , batterie voltage , corrosion, tyre pressure.
Later on a smooth drive no hurry with an astonishing average of 7,5l/100km for 92km roundtrip 4,2xj8
