Default What do you think this is worth

Thinking about this for my wife. Would be trading her 48k 03 Legacy GT Wagon 5 speed in it which has a kbb trade in value of roughly $10k. Would love to see the price closer to the $15k range. Opinions? Also, do most of the 04s have a ski pass thru in the rear seat?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Very nice car... and, Yes, heads WILL turn. I have the same one only black/black. Cannot say about price, of course. Price is what someone is willing to pay, and condition factors in too.

Best of luck pursuing it, if you decide.

I bought my Black/Parchment 2004 XJ8 in March of 2008 with 63,000 miles for $14,500. It does not have a ski pass (much to my chagrin when I locked the key in the trunk...) I think you need to get closer to $12k considering the car is now two years older than when I bought mine!

I definitely think $14-$15k would be about right.

A quick check of the Manheim auction site shows that car wholesaling for around $15k with exactly 46k on the clock. I did notice the car is lacking nav and xenon headlamps but did have heated seats, which is a huge plus. If it is clean, no paintwork or accident damage, I'd be comfy getting that car for around $15k as well. $18k is full blown retail, plus a nickel or two, and you're nearing VDP territory, pricewise.

I picked up my 04, which had 85k on the clock, black/black, nav, xenons, Alpine audio, 18" Dynamic wheels, htd seats and steering wheel with a clean history for a tad over $12k.

So, hope that helps a bit. Oh and btw, no ski pass here either.

Good luck and we wish you the best on your decision, whatever it may be.

I did find another at Adcock Brothers in Manheim. It is an 03 with 68k. I think judging by mmr it should be an even swap or close to it for her car I would prefer the 04 but it seems after doing a little checking that I can't get a tow hitch for our Serro Scottie. I can't believe they don't put a ski pass thru in a $65k car. Tried to stop in there this am but the car must be in line for a cr.

Sorry, should have responded about the ski hatch. Mine does not have it either; however, it IS an option. I found it called out in the owner's handbook - section 3 p38.

It is probably on some exotic cold weather package, maybe with the rear heated seats, or maybe on the LWB or VDP models....who knows how they're thinking back at HQ. And, if it were my skis, I'd need the LWB for my 215s.

Got rid of my 205 Tuas last year. Finally realized my ankle screws don't like leather boots. Keep going smaller. I'm down to 162 2009 Heads as the 2007s and 171cm are too long. Tried to talk my ski shop into 158s but he told me I'm insane.

At 6'2" and 272lbs I have as much business skiing as a catfish has entering a beauty pageant.

Too much of a base model to consider for such an investment. This car needs 18's and NAV to make it a worthy investment. NAV is just about standard on a nice car, so think how antiquated the Jag will be 3-5 from now with small wheels and no NAV.

Just something to think about.

I wouldn't buy a car with 18s or larger "bling" wheels which kill your performance, nor would I want a NAV system to begin with. Auto Nav systems are antiquated before the first production model rolls out the door.
