What have we named our cars?
Just for fun, since I didn't see another thread on this one after a brief search, what have we named our cars and why?
After tossing around a number of different ones, I settled on "Hyacinth" (Bucket, er.. .Bouquet... from Keeping Up Appearances).
The navigation system I've named "Rose" (her obnoxious sister).

Partick, as in Partick Thistle, a Scottish football (soccer) team.
However a friend nicknamed it the Red Oktober because it's big and commanded by a bloke with a white beard.

I suggested to my wife that a name for "her" new 06 SV8 which is Platinum over Ivory might be Norma Jean (especially since my wife is Retha Jean), but she didn't seem to agree so the SV8 is as yet unnamed.
No name for the Jaguar, but wife calls her VW New Beetle "Doodle" ! It's short for Doodlebug. TF is of course the TF, and our other MG has its own name "Midget".
Incidentally, Jaguar features in a poem for elocution lessons on how to pronounce the "a" properly : -
Faather drives a Jaguaar
And Paa drives raather faast
Caastles, faarms, and draafty barns
We go chaarging past
This was told to me by a lady who was brought up in rural Lancashire.

I had briefly thought about naming it after one of the ships from Iain M. Banks's Culture series, but thought it might be too obscure.

My XKR is the Vette-inator. Unfortunately I have yet to have an opportunity in the last year to terminate any Corvette's (that were willing to play) at the red light grand prix. My time will come. No names for the XJ's.
My son named our 97 XJR "Natasha".
When we bought the car in Houston, TX the radio didn't work, so we bought a cheap.... and I mean CHEAP...... radio at Target for the drive all the way back to North Carolina. That radio kept us awake and entertained the whole way, but took constant re-tuning to keep it locked onto any station, and we ended bonding with the radio so much we nicknamed it "Boris" for no reason I can recall.
"Boris" led to our joking about the car having a nickname, and "Natasha" came to mind, and stuck.

OKAY so not one of us calls it my "%&*#@!!!!#" Jaguar?
Or maybe just "my F'n car"?
Actually my wife named mine Ruby but I don't like it and don't call it that. I basically just say "My car! Hands off!"
