When I bought this car, one piece of the window trim (anodized aluminum?) had been ruined by the use of some inappropriate product or material, so I got a replacement from Brickyard Parts in Brooklyn (Indiana, not NY..really). Now all my window trim looks sad and wants to be refreshed. So as not to duplicate the mistakes of P. O. I'd like a recommendation. What product works for you?
IMHO; I suggest you get some automotive grade masking tape (the orange 3M tape available at auto parts store or Amazon), and then carefully mask off the area of the paint below the SS trim piece. Once you got two layers of tape protecting paint, then either get some Simichrome metal polish or AutoSol metal polish, and then re-polish the Stainless steel till it has an almost mirror shine.
Do (polish) it by hand. If that is not sufficient, then use rotary tool (i.e., Dremel) using soft wool buffing tips. But do mask off the paint as above in case you are afflicted with the poor motor skills like me .
Then, you can protect it using whatever polish works for you. I am particularly fond of Sonax Polymer Net-shield spray; Extraordinary paint protection and beading, and it makes rubber parts look like new (no white stain on rubber/plastic).
