I need a replacement for my XJ8 x350's rear differential in Canada. I can't buy from the USA because they weigh over 70lbs when securely packaged, and USPS will only ship packages weighing less than 65lbs. Does anyone have any leads, tips etc?

 

An alternative would be a rebuild kit for the diff. Does anybody know if such a thing is available?

 

I cannot help you with parts in Canada. However I have had oversize items shipped to me through Fastenal (they have locations in Canada also) and via Greyhound.. Perhaps one could be shipped through one of these carriers. I purchased a roof for a Ranchero on EBay and it was shipped to my local Greyhound depot. It was oversize in shape and around 60 lbs. packed for shipping. It was around $150.00 from Oregon to northern California.

I prefer www.car-part.com - it's a junkyard locator service and damn good at that. I'm from SK, I bought a door handle out of AB using that site.

 

Would you believe that an OKTire shop in Calgary sourced and is currently installing a used, but warranted, diff in my Jag as I type! He's also doing a bunch of maintenance work on it.

He regularly services German cars, and had no qualms about working my Jag.
