I decided to clean my sunroof drains today and when I fully opened the sunroof, I discovered this loose item just laying on the drain tray. Looks like some sort of rubber wiper but I couldn’t figure out where it came from. Can anyone shed some light on this?
This might help you identify the sunroof part. It looks like part number 11 for the LWB model sunroof, although I can't find a full picture as the part isn't available anymore.
See the thread Sunroof Rubber Strip. I think it's the soundproofing that was added to the X350 in 2007 or 2008.
I wonder if I can buy strips like that somewhere for my 2004 XJ8.
Now that the OP's rubber strip issue seems to be on it's way to being resolved, and this soundproofing aspects has been brought up...
... is anybody else noticing loud wind noise from around the sunroof? At high speed (>100km/h), even when the glass panel is closed tight, there's a lot of whoosh coming from up there. I need to close the trim panel to dampen it. Is this a sign of a failing seal or something?
