Who has the highest mileage XJ8?
Hi all, posted 4 months ago when my 2003 3.5 V8 was on 134000, now this weekend is is up to just over 142000, touch wood, still running wonderfully, just about to put new tyres on the front this week as well, had the rears done about a month ago.
My '04 XJ8 just turned 160K. The only important mtnce. events have been new rotors (F&R) at 135K and air suspension stuff ($1200...ouch!) at 145K. I change the oil/filter at about 7500 miles, always using the recommended Castrol 5W/30W, and it still runs great.
Recently, I've been hearing some creaks and slight groans from the front suspension...struts?
Your comments about this will be appreciated.
thx,
relinuca

1st post, whats up, folks... I got an 04 VDP @ 118,000 miles running STRONG no major problems other than rattles here and there, remedied with sway bar bushings and such... Air shox running fine
Got the car in 05 with 900 miles on it been daily driving ever since. Best car I have owned to date, still rides like the day I got it. Just stay on top of noises and fluids under the car and all is well

Hi everyone. Was curious as to how the mileage on my 2003 XJ8 4.2 compared with everyone else's. I bought mine in 2004 with 900 miles on the clock and just had it serviced at 173k today. What a fantastic car! Only major items to go on it: 1) central computer (got wet due to a blocked drain hole from leaves - I park under a tree some of the time) - cost about £1000; 2) front suspension at c140k miles cost about £2000. And pretty much that is it. The only persistent (and awful) problem with it is the Air Suspension Fault warning light, which is annoyingly and intermittently on a lot of the time. Despite numerous trips to the dealer, tests on the compressor etc., it seems to be an insoluble problem. Dont suppose anyone has any ideas? My solution, by the way, is to put a specially cut piece of cardboard over the light when it appears :-).
Just an update on my 2003 XJ3.5 it was serviced in January and is now on 186000 miles and still running really well, had the main serpentine drive belt changed but other than that nothing much to report regarding replacement bits.

Please start a new thread about the Air Suspension Warning light issue. You've got more chance of getting advice on it by doing that.

Mine has 60,000 K and just a short time ago changed the front shocks. Did not have a real problem, they were just loosing air in the colder weather. Changing them sorted that problem out. Runs like a dream as it should with just that mileage on it. Best riding Jag I have ever owned.
Hi my 2004 XJR has 94000 on it looks like its had all air replaced I have just had the anti roll bushings done, will be doing a leaky expansion tank this week. Owned Ronnie since Sept and have added the grand total of 500 miles on. Looks like Ron will be getting more looking after than driving. My wife has a 2007 XK her daily driver she has had it a year and put 3300 on.
I purachsed my XJL in June 2010 and have 71,000 miles. I had the brakes replaced last year at 50,000. I get on average 23 MPG with cruise control at 80 MPH and from time to time get 24 MPG and a few times 25 MPG.
