Windows only work by holding the key down on dash.
Hi,
I just purchased my 3rd Jaguar a 2004 XJ8 this weekend and for some reason the only way i can get the windows and sunroof to work is by pressing down and holding the key button on the dash. I follow the manuel which said to hold down two seconds to reset windows but it never reset i cannot use my switches on any of the door panels. Does anyone have a clue?? Also my trunk only realeases a little but i have to stick my key in it to open it up.

I would start with the full reboot. Remove the + battery cable from the battery for a few seconds. Then touch the + cable to the - battery terminal for a second. Re-attach the + cable to the battery. This will reboot the ECMs. If you just bought it, did they ever work? Can you take it back for servicing? May need a new battery too.
