Default X350 reverse opening hood?

Has anyone made their X350 hood open like the X308? Either with x308 parts of a custom made set of hinges? Its one of the 2 things I dont like about the aluminum XJ. The other being that the engine doesnt look good under the hood. (as compared to the X308 S/C engine.)

That was one of the reasons I never purchased a pre-2004 model, I did not like the way the hood opened.

It's better if you hinge the entire front end, fenders and all, like the e type. Otherwise it's harder to work around, like an XJS.

I agree with the entire front end hinged...

maybe you could have lift-off hinges?

that used to be a mod on original minis, where the lid was very small and fairly light, so not difficult to lift and replace. Some of the variants had an ornamental fake radiator grille that would hang down and get in the way.

On a windy day the big light jag lid might blow away though...
