x358 common problems help.
Hello. I've searched and searched the forums with no luck. Maybe I've missed it.
1. no sound. I have - checked everything and i think there is a break in the fibre cable from head unit radio to the boot as I can't see any light in the cable when radio is on a playing. I have changed amp, checked fuses. Looped out the other boxes so all that's connected is the head unit and nav to the amp. Therefore with the no light seen in the cables coming from the front I'm guessing it's that ? If I am right and it Is the cable between the radio and the boot where does it route ? Looks a nightmare to replace...
2. Windows won't reset. Front windows go down in three inch increments, and will only go up in one inch increments if I continously pull on the switch until it closes. Is this a switch connection problem? Or regulator problem ? Motor is fine otherwise it wouldn't move at all..
3. Passenger heated seat and rear heated seats not working. Im guessing most common fix would be get a new element ?
4. Headliner sag. Best diy fix ?
The one that doing my nut in is the no sound. The rest im sure i can easily. But I need sound!
Thanks in advance you jaaaags

too be honest I don't understand the schematic. I need to study it a bit see if i can understand it. Dont even know if my amp works to be honest. I don't where the fault is yet.

I fear that this daisy chaining means any break (for example a failed CD Changer) breaks the ring and fails all?
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me can be clearer?

To be equally honest, I don't blame you! I struggled with it; however, what (I think) I gleaned eventually, is that the Head Unit is connected directly to the Navigation module (the BOF connections to the right of the diagram) and then the connections (starting at the Head Unit) are 'daisy-chained' down to each of the other modules and they have to be connected in sequence? The OG connections return the signal (to the left of the diagram) to complete the circuit, as do the several electrical connections.

I've tested my optical circuit with a tool from the head unit to the back and that's fine. Ive tested my speakers and they work. The electrical cables going to the speakers have no power.
So what next haha doing my absolute nut in.
so the circuit is electrical not optical ? Or both ? Ive unplugged all power to the cd,voice and phone.

There is no electrical connection carrying audio anywhere in the system, except the amp output to the speakers. ALL other audio is optical. The only electrical connections besides amplifier to speakers are power and ground, along with some CAN bus and serial data connections for device control. If you've disconnected CAN bus or serial data, that might be your issue.
I had a GM car, late 90s, that I replaced the radio head unit in so I'd have Bluetooth. It was an easy replacement, except I lost the steering wheel buttons for the air conditioning temperature and fan up/down. Turns out the serial bus for those went through the audio head unit! I had to place the original, unused radio under the dash over the transmission tunnel (it was hidden by the trim panels in the footwells,) and connect power and ground, then connect the the serial bus to the radio as it originally was. I even had to set the clock, because the dash clock came from the factory radio and was dead without it.
Point is, removing all those electrical connections might have interrupted your serial bus and/or CAN bus control signals. I can't really tell you which connectors those are, however, but the electrical diagrams found somewhere on this site would be useful to someone who can decipher them.

Yes all fuses are good.
What I'll do is plug it all back to standard and go find a known working amp.
I bought a new amp but maybe I've been unlucky and bought a broken one ! Even though he said it was fully working... it's the only thing I can see that's the problem now.
Everything else is in tact.
