I'd hazard a guess and say yes, it is your issue and not costly or too time consuming to resolve, worth checking?
Also and although I don't think a contributing factor but worth mentioning.......


The top edge of the outer door mirror housing seal is very poorly fitted, leaves quite a gap. I've checked this on several other X358's and they're ALL the same, exactly the same.
That part too is carefully filled with black silicone sealant and smoothed over for the best finish possible, I'm sure it may help to some small degree but is as much cosmetic......I'll try to get a pic and add it when I can

 

For those that this may affect, I finally got around to adding a couple of pics
These are of the external door mirror housing seal, unfortunately I have no before's of my drivers side ( which was the worst, but the passenger side isn't much better)
On aside note, having checked several similar cars they all look the same!!


Here's the passenger side..... Note the poor seal around the top apex of the seal set up!



Here's the drivers side after......note the use of black silicone sealant to get the best possible finish.
I suppose it's fairly obvious close up, but a few feet away it's totally invisible.


I still believe it was the interior seal fix that resolved the issue, however, perhaps this also had a part to play.

Back onto this brake juddering issue once more.
I had a front set of Pagid quality discs n pads fitted, probably around 10 months or so ago, this seemed to cure the issue for a wee while, but it returned around 2-3 months ago.

Pagid offered up a new set of brake discs and pads under warranty and they were fitted and all was cured once more. At the same time I just went ahead and renewed the rear discs n pads too.....ALL DONE!

Well, the judder has returned once more with a vengeance, so into Prestige to get checked again........I mentioned my thoughts on hub run out and the Pagid rep came out to do a check, he confirmed his thoughts along these lines too, so.....

Looks like I'm getting new front hubs ( will try warranty route but I don't think these are covered! ) if not they'll be getting done anyway.
Depending on how this goes, I may elect to replace anti roll bar links and stabiliser bar too.
After all every other bush has ben replaced, new brakes all round, new tyres, new bubs so why not??
Kudos to Pagid, who said after this work has been completed they will supply another set of brake pads n discs to match up with the new hubs, can't fault them!!

After all this, I've asked Dougie to do an alignment check on it to true everything up.

Unfortunately the ignition barrel is still not here, so that'll have to wait another few weeks along with the sound deadening in the boot area

 

You were able to measure lateral runout at the rotor surface that was due to the bearings? Or is this end-play in the bearings?

I have a similar brake shudder issue I've been battling--changed front bushings, new rotors, about to have the rotors turned and put on a different brand of pads. I was going down the path of "deposits on the rotor surface" because if I brake hard (stop and go traffic) they will smooth out for a while.

But bearings might be a concern. I have noticed an intermittent droning noise from the front, have wondered if the bearings were to blame.

 

Curious about this judder as well. It pretty much went away with new wheels and tires but has come back. My last car did this if my tires weren't inflated to the range of 30-35 psi. I did have to add air last week and most did go away, but there's definitely something going on.

 

It sounds like this wind issue might be my issue on my 09 XJ8 Portfolio. Any DIY instructions for getting the door and mirror assembly off to get to where the silicone needs to be applied?

I have a 2008 XJ with the rubber deteriorating around the forward end of the door mirrors.
The pointy ends that JimC64 posted up thread.

So I think the seal posted above is what I need;





I have been back and forth in the JEPC and looked at the door seals also posted above. But no where could I find that triangle shaped one?
Anybody know where to look?
Am I looking for the right seal?

I wonder if that triangular seal comes with the mirror? The parts catalogs don't seem to list a separate seal. You might call a Jaguar dealership parts department to see if they can track down a part number for you.

Jim filled in the gaps around his seal with black silicone, which may be the only option short of purchasing a new mirror.

I thought of that and it might be so BUT the JEPC has the mirror assembly and does not show any gaskets?



So kind of stuck on where to look?
Maybe I will use black silicone and trim all the loose stuff off and cover the remaining damage?

The gasket is part of the new mirror assembly, at least it was when I bought 2 new assemblies 4years ago.

I have the same problems with wind noise from the front right door. I replaced the old door seal on the body opening, but the problem did not go away. I noticed that the upper part of the mirror mount has a gap. Now I know how to get rid of the noise!
