It's been a long time since I last checked in regarding this digital instrument cluster build. I ended up fabricating the dashboard again to retain more of the factory shape. I'll add more pictures of the full interior when I can. Let me know what you guys think
I think it looks great. That took more talent than I ever had or ever will have. Would certainly like to see more pictures.
Thanks my friend! Will add more pictures soon. I am a retired custom fabricator. In my younger years, I had a few custom automotive shops on the West Coast. I appreciate your kind words.
A shot of the rear seats. The left monitor caught some glare. AC vents were moved, rear center console connects with the front console. Champagne chiller, wireless charging, and a few extra amenities were added. It's no longer a (5) seater obviously.
@hafren Thanks my friend! The Instrument cluster is basically a stand alone screen. I've done a few of these custom digital clusters, so I know to try and fit as big a screen you can in the original space available. My Toyota FJ Cruiser had more room so I was able to squeeze a 12.3" in that setup. If you measure the dashboard, these Jags have a very narrow opening so I can only fit a 10.2" widescreen max. I then fabricated it into the original housing and upholstered it.
The Can bus is sync to a module I had made by a friend in Finland. That module also allows for analog and digital inputs to be wired in like seatbelts, turn signals, parking lights, low & high beam, trunk ajar, door open, parking brake and so on. Basically anything that is not send through the CAN has to be wired in directly. I found out that this vehicle sends the fuel info thru CAN so that worked out great. I can also create buttons on the digital layout to toggle things on and off like hazards. Mode switching and the map. I have two additional steering wheel buttons added for this feature.
