X358 TPMS & spare tire?
Hi all, I just replaced all 5 TPMS sensors with new VDO ones. The 4 on the regular wheels were scanned with an Autel 401 and relearned easily, but the spare is still unrecognized by the car. Does that require OBD relearning - or - if the spare was mounted and relearned on the road, then placed back into the trunk? Thanks!
Hello we had this issue on our Land Rover LR3. We replaced all 5 (including the spare tire) TPMS. I didn't do the procedure myself (my brother used an Autel Maxi) to ping all 5 sensors. He mentioned to me that the spare had to be filled at a higher pressure (per the user manual). He did do a complete relearn to match the senor to the correct tire (left front, right front etc etc ). We still were getting errors and we ended up buying a used TPMS Module off ebay and that solved the fault. The old module was not picking up the sensors.
I apologize, but I'm trying to recall the steps my brother did from our conversations.

So the issue resolved on its own, hope this will help other owners:
New VDO sensors from rockauto for a X358 probably do not need activating out of park mode, but I did read them with a TS401 first. These will auto learn just by a few minutes of low speeds driving. The full sized spare tire will auto learn after several hundred miles in my case. I did also up the pressure to about 45psi just to try.
Thanks all!
