Default XJ transmission service done today

Well today, I started working on my new to me XJ, trying to get her into the shape I want her to be in, as I'd like to keep her for a while.

She's already in good shape, but I want to really freshen things up and get her tip tip as best I can.

I've already had her health checked and got the results, I'd like to do the suspension bushes front and rear, not necessary at the moment but getting there and worthwhile doing for sure.

Although it was recently serviced by an Indy around 2000 miles ago, I want things done for peace of mind so.....

I've had the engine oil changed
Air filter, fuel filter, pollen filter on there way and should be done shortly

As part of this programme and with the upcoming proposed UK ( Scotland ) forum meet and factory tour coming up next month....
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...2014-a-111085/

I visited Mackies Transmissions of Tollcross in Glasgow today .....
http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct...60444564,d.ZG4

and had my transmission serviced at just a little over 62k miles.

To be fair she was fairly smooth, perhaps a little jolt now and then in first when taking off but otherwise fine.
All went well and she seems to be a little smoother, a little more responsive and quicker to shift and the jolt is gone

Mackies are the premier transmission service people in Scotland and one of only a few in the UK, ZF (GB) A rated supplier.

I had a mini factory tour in preparation for our meet on the 29th March at their location, with a factory tour for those that want to attend.

They had a smattering of Jags in on the day, several Audi's, a couple of Beemers, a Hummer and others, a very busy busy place.

They actually do business with many dealers, supply "other" transmission specialists as well as private work and are generally good people to know.

Here's a few pics I managed to snap ( not the best quality - apologies )

Mackies also specialise in Torque converter remanufacture and supply outlets throughout the UK.....

I'm currently working with them and trying to negotiate a forum members discount for servicing, remanufactured transmissions etc

Thanks

May be going back there shortly to get them to take a look at my rear diff....

I know its in good hands and they'll do what they can to keep the cost minimal for the owner

John Mackie MD, John Connachan ( Service Manager ) and Crawford & Alan were extremely helpful on the day, very friendly
& happy to discuss all aspects and share their wealth of knowledge and experience....Top Class!

Looks like a nice operation. Glad to hear your XJ is shifting better, when I did the fluid/filter on ours it fixed an annoying stop/start lurch. Good to see an actual Hummer there.

It was only a little jolt, although a bit annoying I guess............seems to be resolved now though
