Default Xj8 hvac fan resistor replacement help needed

After reading thru the threads , I came to the conclusion that it’s probably the fan resistor, now the repair book is telling me to remove the center console to access the resistor but I also saw post about replacing it by removing the glove box.

can anyone please lead me in the right direction

any help would be appreciated.

You just need to lower the glove box and you should be
able to see the resistor on top of the ducting held on
will two small screws.
Years ago I repaired mine by replacing the power
transistor and testing the thermal fuse.
There is a 'new' unit available with longer fins.
Years go I wrote it all up on the UK forum when
I was known as Roberwil
Cheers
