Default Please confirm Aux - fan SPAL replacement 89 V12

Please confirm Aux - fan replacement, current is wobble and hits the shroud and blows the fuse if hit a bump.

I have priced a SPAL replacement fan in NZ... $305, looks like I can get the same fan in Aus landed in NZ for $177 NZ free post.
The NZ supplier will replace if it to big..11inch but I do not need the hassle buying from Aus.

So will 11inch - PUSHER (please confirm) not puller fit or is it 10inch....?
Going with standard setup, so new Viscous clutch and fan on order.

Next question is if I join the wires on the thermostat and the fan runs, why can't I run wires from the thermostat wires to a switch in the cockpit to turn on the fan when I want, the thermostat will still work if the switch is off and the fan will run if I turn the switch on? Best of both worlds.

Oh and any advise for fitting?

Funny thing is there is a switch in the glove box now, not sure why but could be useful, currently does nothing, and I have found wires under the bonnet that go no where, have not tested them to see if they are connected.

NZ version $305

Any advise appreciated from the great mind in this forum.
cheers A

What year and engine combo? Replacing the OEM electric aux fan? It’s a puller.

Spal all makes a high performance fan that almost looks identical to the OEM aux fan. But it’s massive overkill. Essentially equivalent to the belt driven fan. They have other similar pullers, but none that will easily swap out.

The trick here will be fitting the fan into the existing shroud, or modifying the shroud.

Check rubber flap on engine side of fan shroud -should be nice and supple is my guess.

Aux fan – SPAL - confirmed it’s a puller.

6.9A - 1030 CFM - 83W -

Maradyne fan M123K - Amazon much cheaper

How easy to remove the shroud? - as long as I do not have to touch the aircon!

I have found an older post – adding a SPAL fan – just what I want.
Quoted:
The fan motor is quite expensive.
If you are not a worshipper of the original equipment, you can use a universal fan.
The shroud has an opening of approx 11.5", so you can fit a universal 12" fan cover perfectly.
Of course the fan blade is too large, so you can replace the blade with the one from 10" or 11" fan or you can cut the 12" blade to fit. I chose the latter way.
You can easily fix the fan with some cable ties.

So I am after a 12inch puller SPAL fan trim the blades to fit then wire it on.
Hoses to replace.

I cut a bit of extra metal on my shroud and stuck a cheap $20 12" fan in mine. It just wired to come on with the ignition, no problems.
