I have a 2004 xj8 with a clacking noise that the dealer says is from the intake manifold

So the dealer has informed you that there is a clacking noise coming from the intake manifold. Have they suggested any possible causes, such as something minor like a loose or broken part, or something more serious like a broken valve spring?

What course of action has the dealer recommended?

Is the noise only at startup or the entire time the engine is running?

 

They said its a common problem with the xj8 I've replaced it with two other manifolds and the same noise. It started doing it only at startup.then would quiet down then progressivly got to do it all the time. it keeps time with the engine

 

Odd. I've never heard of such an issue.

 

I've never heard of this either. Is it possible the noise is coming from the PCV valve?

 

Leave it to me to have something odd happen.LOL I don't know if a lifter or a timging chain tensioner would sound like that? But it does sound like someome tapping on the intake with screw driver

 

I removed the valve cover and put it back together enough to start it. Besides an oil bath LOL the noise is VERY loud. Unreal liis started as barely a ticking sound.Then it got louder but would go away. NOT anymore.
