Default XJ8 Mobile 'phone.

"I've just purchased a 2005 XJ8 Sovereign 4.2, it has a car 'phone in the arm rest, and I'm struggling to get my "cell" paired to the touch screen. Is it a main dealer job? When I get the 'phone screen up and punch in ##3#*# the screen tells me "No Service Available" Please stop an old man from going round the bend!...Mental.

Be patient for a moderator to move the post to the right forum so people see it...

Gus,

Welcome to the forum holiday,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X350 forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

I think on the 2005 car you will not have Bluetooth in it.
If you look on the side of the handset in the armrest you should see a tiny slide out piece where you can put a normal size sim card. I have a separate card in mine to use while driving although it is a different number.

When these cars were new I went to Jaguar Training and we were told that the cars had a SPECIFIC recommendation for the exact phones that would work with the car.

Many customers already had phones but some were not compatible and would NOT pair with the car. There is a list of phones for the early cars that was issued to the sales dept and I think it might be an ADMIN TSB??

I don't know if this issue was resolved for the early X350.

Here is a TSB but it might not fit your VIN range.
