Default xj8 rear end gears???

i am new to jaguars but am diving right in. i have a 1999 xj8 and love the NA setups. i would like to know if anyone knowes what the rear end ratio is. looking around i have narrowed it down to 3.06-3.08. and also does anyone know if there are other gears out there. i need 3.55 or 3.73 to get my car out of the hole.

Ok, I'll correct that misinformation here too. I'd have to go out and look on my parts microfische , but I believe its 3.08 and something like 3.27 for Mexico market cars. There isn't a 3.54 available that is listed by Jaguar, no matter how many chimichangas you got.

thanks for the info. i thought a 3.54 sounded out of place but i just cant find valid information anywhere for these cars. i understand its not a car people modify often but youd think there would be something more out there.

It's 3.06:1 for the U.S. models 1998-2003.5.. all of the Mexican XJ's came with 3.27's but good luck finding one without salsa stains and chihuahua hair all over the seats.. (no offense intended)

thats good to know thank you. so then it is gearing thats killing me from a stop. the transmission gears seem to be fine, almost in sync with my lincolns. my 89 had 3.08 and was horrible, my 91 had 3.27 and was a huge difference. so any idea where i can get 3.27. even if thats the best i can do it will make a significant difference.

thankyou again.
