xj8 revs hunting under slight acceleration
Can anyone help . My 2004 xj8 revs hunting around 1500rpm after startup and driving for 5 minutes and this lasts for about 15 minutes. you can feel the car lurching forward while driving . idles perfect and no hunting under harder acceleration. I have just cleaned the throttle body but no change

this thread describes similar issue. I hope you don't end up replacing the torque converter as well.

Back to Dealer :-(
Since I got my torque converter replaced, the transmission has been acting funny. The dealer said it would take a little for the tranny to relearn my shifting. Well, it's been a couple of months and it hasn't learned yet.
- The car will be in the wrong gear at stop sign,
- may be in neutral at stop sign
- the car does not seem to have the power it did
- just does not feel right
My first service on this, they reset the computer and cleaned top half of the engine
Second service was replacing the torque converter. I do not get the hunting with RPM as I did before, so that is fixed.
This is my first automatic tranmission car, so maybe what I am feeling is normal?
