My wifes '05 XJ8 with 85K is showing a sloppy downshift & chatter in D or 5 as we accelerate. Almost feels like a bad miss but with all the notes on these highly rated ZFs I am fearing trans. problem!!

Any feelings on fluid change / service / type of fluid / etc...... and suggestions will be appreciated.

I just did this service to my transmission and it was a noticable change. Quieter and smoother shifting. Worth the expense.

The thing about these transmissions is that you should not drive them with any problems noticed. Most can be remedied with a minor fix, but if you continue to try to drive them, they will go down quite fast and cost you mega bucks to repair.
