Thumbs down 1995 jaguar vanden plas strobe light?

In my jaguar vanden plas, when ever the car is running and only the back right door is open all the lights in the car go "strobe". As soon as you open another door or turn the car off the lights work as normal. there is a clicking nosie coming from the panel under the left rear seat when that door is open. anyone have suggestions? Thankks

As I remember, the problem results from an intermittent rear door switch, usually the left side for some reason (but my memory is extremely poor!). Mine came and sent on its own years ago. I don't remember how to get the switch out, but I know several people reporte cleaning theirs with wd40 or contact cleaner with some results. Of course, a relay could do the same. Good luck.

So its the relay that is making the clicking noise when the door is open. does this mean if i replace the relay it will fix the problem?

The relay makes the clicking noise, the door switch drives the relay- So, it COULD be either OR both. "Clicking" can cause relay failure, or the relay can have multiple clicks if it failed. I;ll bet on the door switch.

Yea i checked the relay by switching it out with another relay and it was still clicking. so im thinking the relay is good and it is the door switch . How do i reach the switch and how do i fix it? Thanks

so i took the door panel off and have narrowed it down to a loose wire that is causing the intermittent door switch. unfortonetly i couldnt reach the loose wire connect without taking the door switch out. How do i take the actual door switch out so i can fix the bad connection? Thanks
