Default 1995 x300 cooling fan stays on

Hello folks, new to the group. Just bought a '95 Vanden Plas and it needs a bit of work. I have owned 2 2003 Vanden Plas in the past which I was very happy with. What I've found with this '95 is that when I turn the key off the cooling fan stays blowing for a long time. possibly so long it drains the battery. I have tried to disconnect the coolany sensor but it still stays on. I have read elsewhere that a bad thermostat may be causing it. I have ordered a new one from Jaguar and a new temp sensor. Anyone that can enlighten me on what may be wrong??

Thanks
Dan

Thank you Sir! I did some research on the forum last night. Found some info. Will follow through with some of the tests and see what happens.

Be careful in changing the thermostat in that some have cracked the thermostat housing in cranking down the bolts

The X300 does not take a O - ring inside the installation like on the earlier X40 and there is a mixing of parts when ordering

thank you Sir! I bought the OEM Jaguar thermostat part# EBC3621 I will use some RTV to seal the housing. yes, aluminum doesn't need excessive force to clamp down on. thanks for the reminder!
