Fan on with key...even when engine is cold?

2001 Vanden Plas Supercharged. 45k miles
The engine cooling fan comes on with the ignition key on, even with the engine cold.
What the heck....?
Any ideas guys?

Replace the fan relay or the temp sensor.

Haha, my X300 did this. Always thought that it was strange... Didn't realize something was actually wrong until someone told me. I loved the sound it made in the number II ignition position, so I never did anything about it. The fans spool up and it sounds like turbines from a jet are coming to life.
