auxiliary cooling fan question

There were a few different variations, but most of the folks I know have their aux fans coming on when a temp sensor in the radiator hits a certain temp......
On that year I think the temp sensor is on the left hand side of the radiator, about half way down. There will be 2 wires going to it. With the ignition on, jump these 2 wires together and in theory your fan should start running. If it does, then you can remove the jumper and then just wait till the coolant temp gets hot enough to trigger it.

I made a jumper for it to be always on after my temp sensor broke. Its not bad for the car, just reduces life of the fan by some.
My diode pack up on the drivers side fender went out(the blue relay looking thing). Play around with it and you will find you can jump two of those together so that the fan simply turns on when the ignition is on.
