Hello everyone new to this very interesting site was hoping someone can help me to obtain a Linear switch for my 1995 xj6 3.2 as mine is playing up !! i was thinking about bypassing it completely but nobody seems to know how who ive spoken to but would rather this parts replaced if honest so Please Please can someone help a desperate man who wants to drive his Jag down here in Cornwall
Hello and thank you for the reply my symptoms are it doesnt light up on the P or the N so wont crank over unless i tap it push it down so thought is it possible to bypass altogether or just buy a replacement
Hello is it possible to bypass it altogether do you know if not do you have details on how to get this working right again sorry for all these questions but i just hate it not working right as i think this car is fantastic !! not pretty but fantastic in my eyes
Right this looks way way to complicated for my simple mind im afraid im guessing its going to have to be a change the switch linear switch time !! man that looks complicated
well first of all thank you so much for taking the time for all this info butthe switch down my the gear lever is where my problem lays no question about that, so this last image you sent is that explaining how to bypass the switch all together or explaining where a relay for the switch is, i did say complicated didnt i !! . so am i right in thinking find that relay earth it out to the car body and that will bypass the linear switch or have i got this 100% wrong sorry for my ignorance
The Red / Blue wire on the linier switch to car frame ground is your jumper
The only relay is the starter solenoid relay under the hood
You can keep the jumper wire on the Red / Blue wire and drive the car , just don't start it out of the park position
Keeping the jumper installed and connected will not drain the battery
Since you will later be removing the linier switch ( fun rear bolts with a torque bit set if I recall , look first ) you can open the switch and clean with rubbing alcohol and later a pencil eraser . give the delicate fingers a slight twist to make better contact
The upgraded linier switch may be hard to find in a salvage yard on a donor car ( if it's been upgraded , or the reason the car is in the salvage yard , look for wreck as reason for being there ) ) but here are some numbers
Item 29
You have the ZF4HP22 transmission on the 3.2 lier X300 which you will notice it does not list so it is the wrong XJ model and not X300
hank you so so much i will look for that wire tomorrow after i buy a new battery for the jag the wire is down by the switch im guessing and do i just splice a earth wire in to it if i read this right i will let you know tomorrow thanks again Parker 7
dont think i would make a mistake of putting the battery in backwards, so a paper clip wire from earth of car body on to the connector red and blue wire which i assume is a earth anyways im just improving or making a full contact do i have this right mate sorry for all these questions, you wouldnt think it would be so hard to buy another linear switch as there were a lots of these jags made for sure
Hello Parker 7 thank you so so much for all your help i done what you said regarding the wire from red/blue to earth its working fine so thank you mate thats brilliant i just cant thank you enough regarding this
