Default 1996 Jaguar XJ6 -- wont start

I was driving it, came home shut it off and it wouldn't start the next morning. I replaced the fuel pump, filter and the fuel lines. I don't know what else it could be. it tries to start but wont turn all the way over. Any ideas?

if your inertia switch was tripped, the car wouldn't crank at all. I would suspect either an injector or ignition relay/fuse

It might very well be just the outlet hose blown off inside the tank. Either way, you gotta remove the tank. Plenty in the archives about the procedure to do so.

yep, i'm agree with spark, same thing happen to me, the hose blew off fuel pump, and for me was an all day job, too take tank out, and while i was there i replace fuel pump had 179k, i think what might of cause it to blow off was the fuel filter over the, slowly clogging up, i looked thru all my records never could find that it was changed, fairly easy to do

Start with the basics, car needs fuel and spark to run.
To check spark,

Just spray some carb cleaner into the intake and see if the engine will fire. If it does, then you're getting spark.

To check if you're getting fuel

Make sure that you're getting fuel to the injectors by disconnecting one of the lines and directing it to a container. The see if you're getting fuel.

If you are, remove one of the injectors, and see if it's getting triggered.

If you're still getting fuel then your injectors are firing so you need to check spark. If not then you can check if you have a bad fuel pump relay or fuel pump.

Good luck.
