1996 Xj12 A/C Issue
Finally ready to pull the trigger when inspection revealed that the A/C was not blowing cold. Otherwise car is in very good condition. Very low miles. Freon level is ok. How much $$$$ could it be to fix? Granted, I know w/o determining specific issue hard to say - but perhaps a worst-case scenario to give me an idea? Thanks!
Firstly, you appear NEW, WELCOME, and enjoy, it will be FUN, frustrating at times, but FUN, and the advice is generally spot on, from people that mostly have experienced the fault in question and actually fixed it.
You are in the wrong section for your year of car, so can one of the ever freindly Mods please move this to the X300 section to maximise answers.
Where is WA as a location, Western Australia??, or is it some abreviated state in the USA??, or somewhere else in this HUGE world we have access to??.
I would find a good a/c workshop in your area and have them put the gauges on the system to actually diagnose the head pressures, as you may have a stuck TX valve (inside the car and NOT a known failure), or a blocked condensor and or filter unit.
The belt may be slipping/missing, or the electic clutch on the compressor may not be locking up (electrical issue).
The list is long without this pressure test.
The system is Nippon Denso and is particularly reliable.
