Hi again, I posted earlier about about our rear shock issue. We've also noticed the car is recently pulling to the right when braking. We'll bring it in to a shop to have the alignment checked, But I wanted to get the shocks replaced first. Could this sudden alignment issue be a symptom of the bad (right) rear shock? I realize there are lots of parts to wear out in the front end, but does this model have anything in particular we might check before bringing it into a shop? I did eyeball the pads and rotors and they looked OK, Pads still have some meat on them, Rotors normal, no obvious sign of the brakes causing the pull. There is no odd noise(s) when this happens from the front or rear of the car.

Hi I did my rear springs and shocks last year but mainly because the car was sitting lop-sided - rubber donut at the top has disintegrated completely one side and almost completely the other. Can't say it affected the braking though. Rear shocks and springs is technically a DIY job but is tricky - I did a write up on it when I did mine if you search for it

I would think a sticking front brake caliper would be a more likely culprit.

 

I agree with @countyjag that I think it's unlikely that worn shocks would cause a significant pull to one side on braking. Brake imbalance is much more likely.

Could be sticking caliper and/or deteriorated hoses (they swell inside causing low fluid flow).

 

Thank you. Yes, we're planning now to replace both calipers and lines/hoses. While we were in looking around we discovered other suspension issues. So now the brakes will be after the suspension stuff is repaired.
