1996 XJ6 - Central locking problem
The central locking stopped. Now you must open the drivers door and trunk with the key. Also, no security chirp when you do lock it up. The trunk lights do work and I now notice there is a red light on the door lock button next to the non-functional clock that is always on. I can't say that I have ever noticed it being on before.
From what I can find in the wiring those are the fuses that control this stuff. I checked the wiring on the right trunk hinge and it seems OK and the connection to the security control box by the fuel filler looks like it is tight.
The Security Module has been replaced with a used one of the same exact type and serial number.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any input!

Often times unplugging and replugging the central locking ECU, in the passengers footwell, solves this problem.
Other times its an early indicator that your battery is on its way out.
NOTE: I have an XJS, so the locking ECU may be somewhere else. I forgot which forum I was on.

there is a red light on the door lock button
Did the locking issue happen when you replaced the module, or did you replace the module because of the locking issue?
Has the replacement module been re-programmed to your keys?
