Firstly, welcome to the Forums.

When time permits, please do an Intro in the New Members Area.

I will assume you have a 4ltr car, with the electronic transmission, as apposed to the 3.2ltr with the non-electronic transmission.

Sounds like the coolant from that rupture has found its way into a sensor/connector somewhere close by. Coolant should have left a stain, so a tad easier to trace out.

Your car is known as an X300, and one of the Moderators will shift this when they catch up, but maybe a reask in that Tech Section by yourself, might get a quicker response.

"Won't shift?"
You are leaving us out in the cold, here Jeddington.

Do you mean the shifter is locked in place in the J-gate? There is a solenoid that is supposed to fire when you put your foot to the brake pedal, but the microswitches can get hissy and that stops working. Work-around is to remove the torx screw at the top-left corner of the J-gate and stick an object down in that hole (such as a philips screwdriver) to release it until you get it sorted. Much written here on that issue that will be revealed in a search.

Or do you mean it goes into one gear, say 1st, and then never shifts out of that? If so, does reverse work?

Also, it would be helpful to know if you have the 4.0L or the 3.2L. Your location would help resolve that issue if it happens you are here in the states, as we didn't get the 3.2L, but neither do you list a location. Help us help you.

There is a round electrical connector on the left aft side that may have got some sort of contamination . You can pull it and flush with some contact cleaner without jacking the car . The separate transmission ECU lays flat on the bottom of the passenger seat opening {L or R ) and has a long connector easy to get to and clean . Bosch unit label .
