1997 XJR gear selector linear switch
HI everyone, im after advice on how to adjust the micro switches on the gear selector as they a playing up, the car turns over but will not fire even with slight movements on the the selector.
Yeah, I agree. I took a quick scan at the schematics and I don't see any from the linear switch that would cause a "cranks but won't start" condition.
One clue on the crank sensor: if the tach needle doesn't jiggle a bit when cranking, the fault is probably the cranks sensor
Cheers

Thanks robxjr6 and Doug for that information and i will check the Crank Sensor. Some more light on the situation is when turning the ignition too positon 2 the " P " on the selector does not light up and the when the gear slector is in normal P position it does not do anything, yet pulling back on the selector engages the the switch and the car begins to turn over. I have read on here that it can be caused by the Linear Switch and some gental re-alignment can resolve this, which is why i was aiming in that direction of a possible fault. Thanks Jagxjren.
