Smile 26 and still going strong.

Hello All,
With the early X300`s now 26 years old will we be moving from modern to classic in the forum search?
John.

I wouldn't count on it just yet. But the X351 should be joining the Modern section pretty soon!

We are the oldest of the "modern" Jags, according to the forum. After all, we do have OBD2. That's kinda modern!

It kinda makes sense to stay in the modern section, as X300 is Ford Era, OBD and modern styling that continued for many years and XJ40 as last Jaguar with its 80s body, no OBD and similarities to many previous models. I know they share a lot of parts but I treat them as vastly different cars in how they drive and feel are even finished. I owned and loved both of course.

Looks great. I put over 160K miles on my X300 and only sold it to get something different - an X308.

Members can sometimes show extreme sensitivity when their model is moved to a different section. For example, the Classics era could be considered to end with the introduction of the XJ6 Series I and the Modern era could be considered to commence with XJ40. Both inclusions and exclusions have been hotly debated in the past. The only classification that isn't controversial is Current.

I have no particularly strong feelings about which model should appear where. The important consideration is the majority, especially visitors or newbies, can find them easily.

Graham

Dad just bought an X306. My neighbour asked him if it was new...like, a new car. I'm not sure it belongs in the Classic section just yet. Though I think it's a good question.
