Default 400.000 km X300 XJ6

Hello

I'm looking to buy a XJ6 3.2 Manual from 1997 with 400.00km!

Went to see the car yesterday and a few issues came up.

The car runs fine, very smooth, no rattles, no smoke or vibration. Starts right up from cold, no warning lights.

The problem I found is the clucht stuck to the floor. Searched online and clutch slave or master cylinders are virtualy non existent or very expensive. Theres also a rebuild kit, but didint find a clutch for sale for example

On the inside only found a window very slow going up.

My question if everything in this car will be this hard or expensive to find? I have a bunch of old Alfas anda even for the more rare like the v6´s parts are easier and cheaper to find. Should I try to find a autobox one?

The car is the following:

Wow, that looks like an extremely high price for a car with such high mileage, even if it is a rare specification. With regard to clutch masters, you can use the more commonly available XJ40 version, just make sure the reservoir is on the correct side (see my thread at https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ptions-175684/ for part numbers). Unfortunately parts for the X300 are becoming quite hard to find, and the aftermarket is not very strong compared to even your old Alfas, so if you can't find parts from places like David Manners or SNG Barrett, they are unlikely to be available elsewhere.

Thanks for your reply

Regarding the price, it is the cheapest in the country by far. A used one with half the milage would be priced 15.000 euros or higher.

I'm very tempted to buy the car, love the exterior and interior colours.

The dealer said they would fix the clutch before seling, my take on that is that they will not be able to do it.

I might change the master cylinder at home or any other mecanical parts as I do most of my cars maintenance myself. Not sure if I dont buy It has it is and throw in a cheaky offer.

Any other thougths in what I shoulf be looking at?

Thanks.

I've found for sale single mass conversion kits. Do this cars come with a dual mass from factory?

The window motors are available new, or only from the scrapyard?

yes factory is dual mass which is why you’re forced to convert

window motors and regulators are dirt cheap used they don’t break like 20 bucks at most. auto reserve jaguar will almost always have the part you need

I had a slow / failing window motor and you can pull out the 2 motor drive wires and run the widow with a battery charger up and down

The 2 drive wires are at a hole in the front of the door ,

turned out the connector was loose on the pins lock bar

In the end the control switch must be held to the up position for a moment of time and then the controller learns the full up position

Spray the window tracks with a proprietary silicon spray designed for zippers and windows.
Works a charm.

Single mass for the naturally aspirated ones. Dual mass for the supercharged ones. Can swap the single mass on the dual mass.
