Default 95 x300 pictures and a question

I finally took some pictures of my new paint job on my new Jag X300. Not very good pictures as it has been raining for a week so I held off doing any washing until this weekend. I will get some better pics and put them in the gallery. A question on the picture showing the right front fender and hood. Do you see how the hood does not lie flush? is there an adjustment for this? I took a look this afternoon, but am not sure. Anyways there is the paint. The code is SDN---Topaz Pearl Metallic--hope its close
I also got new tires on Saturday---w rated--cheaper than the v, hope that is good-----Thanks P.S. I have never loaded pictures before so if things go wrong you only have my birth date to blame.

Your hood needs to be adjusted and I don't think that's a big deal . After a few datailing work to the engine it will look bright and tight lol

Do you think that hood adjustment is made from the release point or from the hinge? I have always been leery of detailing engines too much. I certainly never wash an engine though I may clean it up a bit with armor-all or something on the plastic parts and the valve cover. Overall I think the paint came out ok. I bought the car for $2600, put a grand into the paint and $500 on the tires. Not a bad investment. I am going to replace the shocks and bushings when I get the cash and I'm thinking of doing my plugs, plug/coil gaskets and probably my plug wires. She starts and idles a little rough/lumpy sometimes---but overall I am pretty happy with the Jag.

I wish I had enough know-how as to hood latch but I think that's more related to hinge rather than cable or release handle .
I would keep it as is rather than power wash any engine bay , a wet towel what I mostly use for such detailing jobs

You can adjust the pins in the corner of the hood. Usncrew the large nut and turn in the post. When you get the right height hold the post with a large screw driver and retighten the large nut.

Drew is correct, you need to adjust the latch pin on the relevant side, These have a triangular tip to locate in the latch, and a spring-loaded keep-washer to maintain pressure to stop rattling once securely latched. Pin can be turned in and out using screwdriver, once the securing nut is loosened off. Does your car have any rubber buffers as well as the latch pins?

Drew, Fraser, and Cadillac, thanks for the input. Without going outside (raining AGAIN) to look, I do believe that there are some rubber bumpers. I will double check tomorrow. The adjustment seems pretty straight forward. Stupid me, I never looked up at the pin. Any comments (tell the truth) on the car from the limited pictures? Considering what I paid, I thought I made out pretty good. Again, thanks for the comments.-----Scott

Sharp car. Paint job looks like it turned out great. Tinted windows pull the whole car together.

Thanks Fullthrottle, window tint is a must here in deep south Texas. Actually being in deep south Texas is the reason the paint job was so cheap. I am about 5 miles from Mexico and a lot of places do paint, welding, headliners...etc. Not many are masters at it, but good enough for the price. $4500 is a lot Sempire, but that is probably an average price in your area, or your rust is really bad. Salting the roads is terrible on cars. The underside of my wife's Volvo 240 is covered in rust---car is from up north. Still I would take a little rust and snow in exchange for this place I guess I am just a displaced Yankee

Don't tint the windows. People need to be able to gawk at the X300s beautiful interior!

Honestly, do these cars not have the finest interior you have ever seen? The old XJ6s were pretty bad, the XJ40 was almost perfect and the X300 is perfection. From there it went downhill. The X308 got Jappofied. The X300 had "panels" of wood. The 308 got those funny wedge/blob shaped trims I see in my mothers Mitsubishi. And those horrible little wedges of carpet on the doors too.

Yeah, with the X308 I think Jaguar got carried away with the "swoops and curves" theme. I prefer the X300 interior.

Cheers

I need tint here in Tucson, AZ. With summer temps. reaching over 105* and with no garage for me to store my kitty the tint will definitely help preserve my leather

I'm in South Florida, so I really need the tint, but I just like waving hi to the peasants as I drive by.

LMAO I love that too, except when people see a 27 year old driving a (once) 70K car I get the stink eye. I love how no one knows that Jags just really don't hold their value

I know! I had that today by an older gentleman driving a Cadillac CTS. A 19 year old punk kid in his eyes driving a car that's in nicer nick than his 4 year old caddy. I waved hello. It was necessary.
