Default 95 XJ6 Rhythmic Noise From Front When Rolling

Hi all, appreciate some help here.

First off, I have done a full suspension refresh just months ago. Parts that I have replaced are listed in my post. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xjr6-x300-26/xj6-suspension-overhaul-fitting-rear-sway-bars-monostrut-163427/#post1472376

Over the past several days I've been hearing a rhythmic soft knocking noise from the front that is audible when the car is at low speed (30-40kmph) AND when there is some steering input (not a full turn, just a slight left steering input). Actually if I give a little steering input on a straight, the rhythmic gentle knocking manifests as well.

Any suggestions please? Lug nuts, wheel alignment etc has been checked.

Thanks!

My first guess is loose and/or worn front wheel bearings

Thanks doug. Sorry I might've missed that on the list in the post but front wheel bearings are brand new. And I did the whole tug and pull on the wheel test, seems ok.

IMO....Tug 'em again, just for the heck of it. Only takes a minute and costs nothing.

If they came out of adjustment a bit, it certainly wouldn't be the first time...particularly with the troublesome design (and often troublesome installation) of the hub seal on the X300....especially if new seals were used.

Check for a loose caliper as well, or a brake pad loose in the caliper.

Cheers

What's the frequency of the knock. Does it change with engine speed or road speed or neither?

If Doug's suggestion doesn't pan out then as a long shot - if the knock becomes apparent with slight steering input I'd check the high pressure hose (and also the rack) is secured properly and not knocking against something as a result of steering pump pulses.

I had a similar experience with my Daimler after it had been re-painted. The road wheel nuts or lugnuts were finger tight.

Thought i should close off this one.

The noise was actually coming from a loose titanium stud on my 18" milans (probably stripped the threads slightly but i guess thats a problem for another day)

Thanks to the suggestions though, at least i know my bearings are in good condition
