Hello All,
I have the center console lid with the recess for, what must have been, a factory installed cell phone. (See Photo: Sorry, you'll have to look closely at the upper portion of the pic. only one I have at the moment.)

I just purchased the car online a few days ago and haven't seen it live and in person (yes I know, what was I thinking right) No really, it's an imaculate vehicle.

The question is: Do these console lids have cup holders, (for example one that is hidden inside the console,) or would I need to replace this lid with a standard lid/cupholder combination to get the basic functionallity of say taking my coffee with me, lol.? I can't imagine being an either or situation between cell phone or cupholder but nothing would surprise me.

If replacement is the only option to get a cupholder in my car, what is the best source for oem replacement parts, used is fine if in good condition.

No, the phone recess and cup holder cannot coexist.

I had the phone lid in my X300 when I bought it, and I had so much trouble finding a standard replacement in the right colour (black for the XJ Sport interior), that I ended up making a vinyl clad steel panel to plug it up:



As you can see from the above picture, there is not enough room at the front of the lid for a cup holder assembly.

If you'd like the cupholders, go for eBay, they are about $200 or so. To be honest, the cupholders are absolute crap, and won't hold anything if you're going around a corner. They are also prone to breaking.

 

When I made the abovementioned patch panel, I was half tempted to insert one of these in it:



That would have been a much more robust cup holder solution than the stock system.

Stock cupholders aren't terribly effective at their supposed function, but I have seen the console lids on eBay for $159-$179 in a variety of colors, including some VDP's which I guess were a slightly different color/textrure from the non-VDP's. No guarantee the one you need will be there, but it's a start.

 

Good luck finding a replacement, I have a 97 XJ6L with a broken cup holder couldn't find another so I tried to find the whole center console lid. No were to be found. E-Bay didn't have any listings either

 

There are 7 new assemblies currently on eBay right now. They average $180 per unit but they are on there and they are redily available from most of the Big Jaguar vendors. Type in Jaguar x300 cup holder in beats search engine.
